The Gamma Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. hosted “A Community Conversation on Education” at the Florida People’s Advocacy Center.
Moderated by Bro. Errol Wilson, the event centered on the latest challenges to K-12 public education in Leon County at the intersection of politics, history, censorship and activism.
An esteemed panel consisting of Attorney Cecille M. Scoon, Co-President of the Florida League of Women Voters; Natasha Sutherland, Deputy Director of Florida Watch; and District 3 Leon County School Board member Daryl Jones provided excellent insight and analysis on how the current political climate and recent legislative initiatives have adversely affected the teaching profession and their chilling effect on the breadth comprehensive learning in Leon County.
Bro. Cyrus Calhoun and the Legislative Affairs Committee organized and presented today’s program. Attendance included members of the community as well Brothers of the chapter, including chapter President Bro. Andrew L. Dixon, III, who provided closing remarks.
